Why it's important to select the correct vehicle and tyre size
Vehicle
There are a surprising number of vehicles that cannot use traditional snowchains, the types that put chain on the inside of the wheel as well as on the tread. This is usually because there is not enough space between the wheels and the shock absorbers; this can be a problem for ordinary SUVs and 4x4s as well as for high performance cars.
You will find this important information in your car handbook - please check this before using your snowchains! Our database is intended to do the basic work for you but, with so many new vehicles and tyre sizes, it should only ever be treated as a guide.
Tyre size
Please also check your tyre size - if you buy incorrectly-sized chains they will be either too tight or too loose.
Ladder track chains
The good news is that car handbooks usually only refer to "traditional snowchains". Ladder track chains such as the Polaire GRIP and Spikes-Spider range only put chain over the tyre tread, so are not subject to these restrictions. They are also ideal for use on rear wheel drives where there is minimal space between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch.
It's really important to select the correct vehicle, paying attention to the year of the manufacture

"This backpack swallows up everything one can possibly imagine. It has made my life as a law student oh, so much easier. I can easily -- and comfortably -- carry all the many books I need to class. My notebook fits snugly into the Boot. Best of all, appearances are deceiving. The inside is massive, but this pack is still small enough that I don't have to check it in when I fly, or worry about knocking people over in the stairwell!" - WB, Torq owner
"Some feedback on my amazing Torq...it's fantastic! The pack swallows my PC and the millions of add-ons we need today with ease. I find it spacious and comfortable, and it’s very easy to find small items hiding in what are normally dark corners. Don’t underestimate how important this is. About to take my Torq continent hopping and I am confident it is up to the task!" - MS, Torq owner
"This is the best bag I have owned so far. It has all the features I wanted!" - WN, Torq owner

"The build quality of the Torq and other Spire backpacks is amazing...a great choice for the road warrior. 5/5 stars!" - ConnectReviews.com, August 2007
"Because of its capacity, you’ll be tempted to over-pack this solidly-built backpack. But resist that temptation and you’ll find the Torq a worthy bag." - MacWorld.com, June 2007
"Most of you know by now that I'm something of a bag-o-holic. It's probably because I'm so attached to my MacBook Pro and because I take it everywhere but regardless, I really dig bags or all shapes and sizes. One bag I'm currently digging is the Torq backpack from Spire. If you're looking for a backpack to carry your MBP, it's worth looking into." [ Read full article ] - O'Grady's PowerPage, May 2007
Spire had a substantial booth at January's Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Their newest high-end model, the Torq, recently delivered to our ultra-tech testing facility (Nemo's shoulders and back), is spacious, expensive, and designed for every possible carrying condition. - MyMac.com, March 2007

Delivery FAQs
When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.
What about Next Working Day delivery?
Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next working day, if the order is placed before the cut-off time (see above). Some will arrive on the second working day if there has been a "split-delivery". So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.
Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.
