Why it's important to select the correct vehicle and tyre size
Vehicle
There are a surprising number of vehicles that cannot use traditional snowchains, the types that put chain on the inside of the wheel as well as on the tread. This is usually because there is not enough space between the wheels and the shock absorbers; this can be a problem for ordinary SUVs and 4x4s as well as for high performance cars.
You will find this important information in your car handbook - please check this before using your snowchains! Our database is intended to do the basic work for you but, with so many new vehicles and tyre sizes, it should only ever be treated as a guide.
Tyre size
Please also check your tyre size - if you buy incorrectly-sized chains they will be either too tight or too loose.
Ladder track chains
The good news is that car handbooks usually only refer to "traditional snowchains". Ladder track chains such as the Polaire GRIP and Spikes-Spider range only put chain over the tyre tread, so are not subject to these restrictions. They are also ideal for use on rear wheel drives where there is minimal space between the top of the wheel and the wheel arch.
It's really important to select the correct vehicle, paying attention to the year of the manufacture

"I've received my Volt and started using it. It's great. It is the perfect size for my computer and the piles of books I need to carry around for classes. Thanks for great service and a great product!" - WR, Volt Owner
"I just received my bag. The bag looks great, but more importantly, it is perfect!! The 'Boot' is the best I've seen to date. I experimented a bit and loaded up more than I would ever carry at one time, stood the bag up, and the zippers closed with such ease, one would think the bag was empty. Fantastic product, I'm sure it will stand the test in the field. Thanks again." - BT, Volt Owner
"What can I say about the Volt? It is what I had expected and more! Not only does the backpack looks great, but all the pockets & compartments are just perfect for organizing my mess of cables and adapters. Not to mention the waist and chest straps helping to distribute the load so well. Unlike the Targus backpack I have been using, I expect this one to last me a long time! Two thumbs up for a great product." - TCY, Volt Owner
"I received my Volt just before going back to college and have enjoyed it greatly. It is the perfect size to hold my laptop, along with text books and accessories. The bag can handle anything you throw at it. The quality is outstanding. The bag is comfortable to wear, and distributes the weight wonderfully as well. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone." - CW, Volt Owner

"If you want a simple, elegant and robust laptop bag then take a serious look at Spire’s range of bags. The Volt is at the bigger end of the range, but while it holds a lot of gear, its not too bulky. When the compression straps are cinched up, it’s very stable for either walking or riding. Its understated looks do not scream “steal me.” Spire’s attention to detail is impressive, this bag has been well thought out. I like it." [Read whole article] - The Gadgeteer
"The Volt from Spire is the most expensive bag that I tested. This bag is also worth every penny. I had the opportunity to bring this one with me during a recent trip to Disney World with my wife and kids. This bag did nothing but impress me. Its padded shoulder straps made it very comfortable to lug around diapers and jars of baby food not to mention all the souvenirs. And when I returned home, this bag did just as well on my back getting to work. My Powerbook fit snug and secure using the Spire Boot, which is Velcroed to the bag interior. There are more pockets than I knew what to do with but the beauty of this design was unused pockets did not bulk up the pack. A well-designed bag at a competitive price if you have a need for a bag that carries small and large loads." - AppleMatters.com
"The Volt can carry laptops such as the 17" PowerBook and other large desktop replacement laptops with no problem. The bottom of the backpack is well padded for shock absorbency and your laptop is protected by 4 layers of fabric and 2 layers of closed-in foam. There are two large external pockets for access to your often needed documents and there are multiple interior pockets for other mobile accessories. The Volt includes a padded Boot sleeve which can be sized to your specific laptop." - About.com's Top 10 Laptop Backpacks

Delivery FAQs
When will my order arrive?
There are no deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays, except for postable items where Royal Mail has a Saturday delivery. Express Delivery orders placed on a Friday (before 1pm) should be delivered on the Monday or Tuesday, Express Delivery orders placed on a Saturday or Sunday should be delivered on the Tuesday or Wednesday. The arrangements for Very Heavy Items are different and are shown above.
What about Next Working Day delivery?
Most Express delivery orders will arrive on the next working day, if the order is placed before the cut-off time (see above). Some will arrive on the second working day if there has been a "split-delivery". So-called “split deliveries” happen when the couriers do not have enough trailer space for everything that should be moved around the UK, so they will load what they can and leave the rest for the next trailer.
Is my delivery day guaranteed?
No retailer or courier company can ever "guarantee" a Next Working Day delivery. As well as split deliveries, all courier companies occasionally have the same transport problems as can happen to everyone else, including snow blocked roads, closed roads, traffic jams, mechanical breakdown, an inability to find the delivery address, or to gain access to it if, for example, it's in a block of flats. We work with some of the best couriers in the business, and overall they provide an outstanding service.
Do I need to be at home?
We are very flexible with our deliveries and will aim to deliver to an address which suits you – this does not need to be your home address. Goods can usually be left without signature - we prefer this with roof boxes. There's a "Special Delivery Instructions" box in the checkout area where we'll ask you to choose a typical instruction and then amend it to suit your particular requirements.

We take the following cards, and also PayPal. Please note that the entry on your card statement will be from "The Roof Box Company".
