Walser is a global player in the car seat covers market, an Austrian brand which is highly respected in the auto industry for its intelligent designs, good quality and, above all, innovation. The most significant innovation in these seat covers is Walser's patented "CLIX III docu-sewing-system" which emulates the airbag stitching found in the seat itself and, subject to approval, permits the seat covers to be used on vehicles with side airbags in the front seats. Almost every new car and seat combination has been fitted with Walser's CLIX III covers and then tested and approved by the German TÜV - an expensive process for Walser but where safety is at stake there are no shortcuts. For more information about Walser, and about CLIX III safety, please see the separate tabs. Check out the video to see how easy they are to fit. Summary: Good looking and comfortable side-airbag-compatible seat covers that are easily fitted and removed.

Walser, based in Austria, is Europe’s seat cover specialist. They have offices on several continents, have an ongoing commitment to R&D, a reputation for innovation, and they keep tight control of materials and production by having their own factories. They have a wide range of smart designs, and use high quality technical fabrics, but what really makes Walser stand out from the crowd is their patented “CLIX III” technology side airbag system which allows their seat covers to be used on cars with side airbags. All the Walser fabric seat covers that we sell have this system. Walser use the German TÜV to test and approve a CLIX III seat cover on every mainstream vehicle seat type; this is a very substantial ongoing investment, but is fundamental to their success. Walser tell us that other seat cover side airbag systems, usually Velcro or elastic straps, either do not work or are very unreliable. Some manufacturers leave a gap down the side of the seats - this is a good solution for the air bags, but creates a poor fit for the seat covers. The core message is that side airbags are crucial to passenger safety, and that Walser’s solution is both reliable and unique. There’s more detail about CLIX III safety on a separate tab. |
Side airbags are crucial to modern vehicle safety. Approximately one in four accidents is a side collision, but the probability of serious injury and death is twice as high as it is with front or rear collisions, due to the narrow space between the passengers and the doors. Side airbags must work as designed, and not be impeded by e.g. elastic straps or Velcro fastenings. The sensors will trigger the airbag 5 ms (5 thousands of a second) after a crash. 10 ms later the airbag is fully inflated, just in time to protect the passenger who will hit the airbag 10 ms after full inflation. After another 15 ms the bag starts to deflate. [Source, Walser marketing literature] The CLIX III docu-sewing-system emulates the seam in side airbag seats. Computer controlled equipment measures the thread tension, the thread denier, the thread composition and the stitch length, and if all is well it generates a unique code that is stitched into the front seat covers. Walser record these codes. Customers may return their registration document to Walser who will match up the code to check that the seat cover is a genuine Walser product. (We do of course purchase all the Walser seat covers we sell direct from Walser!) |
